  ABILITY LEVEL
The chart below shows a rough outline of the MINIMUM standard you need to be to come on any of our courses. There is no maximum standard; many of our clients have already done several seasons before they join our courses. Every season we have the satisfaction of witnessing not only timid novices transform into tidy advanced skiers but already confident experts rid their bad habits and push themselves further than they have previously done.

"I had already done a few seasons before I went on the NONSTOP 11 week course and since passing level 3 I'm now instructing for NONSTOP."
Simon Calnan - NONSTOP 2003

Over the years, as word about our top-notch courses has spread, our client numbers have increased. Although any one course will never have more than 60 people on it. Our courses do attract a lot of people. On programs with smaller numbers it can not be avoided that people of varying ability levels are placed in the same lesson groups. However because our courses will have more people of the same sport it means that the ability level in our instructor groups will be much more uniform ensuring our clients are skiing with people of a similar standard. This helps our clients improve faster as well as ensuring that they will enjoy their time on the snow that much more. It also means that we have quite a few instructor groups per course meaning we can cater for a wide variety of abilities from novice to expert.

The table below is a guide only; everyone improves at different rates due to instruction, fitness and natural ability. We are often able to custom make a package to suit your needs such as organising for you to arrive a few weeks before the start of the course to bring you up to standard. If you have any queries or are worried that your ability might not be suitable for one of our courses please give us a call.

GUIDE TO MINIMUM EXPERIENCE LEVELS

Novice You have the skiing bug! And you have mastered snow plough turns and are beginning to gain confidence and are keen to learn. You can get down a blue run without falling over too many times but you haven't skied a red yet.
Intermediate You feel confident on blues and easy reds and can ski parallel most of the time. Steep blacks are still intimidating but you are beginning to increase and control your speed on easier runs. However you are not always completely in control.
Advanced Intermediate You understand how to carve and can control your speed and direction. You are able to ski parallel on most slopes but are more comfortable on less steep terrain. You are fit enough to ski on reds at a reasonable pace all day.
