With one of the highest snowfalls in North America, you won't be disappointed by Fernie’s “steep and deep” conditions. Although there are plenty of groomed runs to warm up on, the emphasis is very much on off-piste skiing, with tree runs, open bowls, gullies and the 'champagne powder' which Fernie is renowned for.

The town of Fernie is a short seven minute drive from the ski resort and, although it is now one of the world's "must ski" destinations, it has retained its relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. NONSTOP participants are consistently taken aback by the warm welcome they receive from the locals. It has an excellent selection of restaurants, bars, coffee shops and plenty of great places to buy kit for the tour (route 1).

A favourite of those in the know (and the ski press), Red Mountain offers world class skiing and riding with no lift queues, empty pistes and a fantastic friendly atmosphere. The resort incorporates two peaks with 360° skiing off the top, offering an awesome variety of lines down gladded tree meadows, wide open groomed pistes and award-winning steeps. Red Mountain was opened in 1947, making it one of Canada’s oldest resorts.

The town of Rossland lies approximately three kilometres from the resort. It's a laid back ski town with some excellent restaurants, coffee shops and book shops to enjoy during your stay. Rossland is the sort of place that, once you've experienced its delights, you'll want to take your friends.

Revelstoke is the newest resort in Canada, combining amazing terrain with large amounts of snow. When you arrive in Revelstoke you will see the potential that the place has, with tons of terrain that will soon be lift accessible. For the time being there's still plenty to keep you busy, with the longest run in North America, clocking 1,443 metres! Mount Mackenzie is where you'll do most of your skiing, which is a fantastic area. Reaching 2,456 metres, its western face drops 2,000 metres in an unbroken slope, right down to the valley of the Columbia River.

The town of Revelstoke is a nice authentic Canadian town that offers a good range of places to eat and drink. There are also the usual attractions, like the local ice hockey team and not forgetting the hot springs.

Kicking Horse is fast becoming a world famous destination, and it's no suprise! With steep pitches, great snow and uncrowded runs, this resort is a great stop on our tour. Just like Fernie and Red Mountain this resort is better suited to the more advanced skier, however there is something for everyone at this up and coming resort.

For apres ski Kicking Horse has a selection of bars and restaurants at the base of the hill, but you're most likely to head to Golden after a day's riding. The town of Golden is close to the resort and offers a good choice of bars and restaurants. If you are looking for a special meal experience then head for the Eagle's Eye, a fantastic restaurant at the top of the mountain with amazing food and views to match.

Whistler is Canada's, and arguably North America's, most famous resort. With two huge mountains to ski, you are never lacking in variation of terrain. Whistler lies on the western peninsula of Canada and that means lots of snow coming off the ocean, so those powder days are frequent and deep. To add to amazing skiing, the introduction of the peak-to-peak gondola means you can get spectacular panoramic views over the whole of Whistler Blackcomb. 

Apres ski in Whistler is fantastic! The entire village is laid out to cater for guests and, with heaps of bars and restaurants to choose from, you are sure to have a rich experience when the sun goes down. Whistler is the perfect place to start your tour and become acquainted with your new road trip companions!

Sun Peaks is one of the funnest mountains on the tour. Although not super steep, there are tree runs in abundance that will leave you feeling like a true mountain explorer. Sun Peaks has three lift-accessed mountains meaning there is a serious amount of terrain to ski. With an average snow fall of over five metres, the conditions are consistently excellent and when it snows the powder is light and dry due to Sun Peaks being semi-arid in the summer. 

Apres ski is well taken care of again in Sun Peaks with a magically lit, purpose built village that has a variety of eateries and bars. Your accommodation is centrally located, so you're never far away from an apres drink, game of pool or a bite to eat.

Lake Louise is a great mountain to explore. There's so much terrain available, you can go on an all-day tour and never ski the same run twice! Lying in the Banff National Park, Lake Louise is pristine with spectacular views. The cool temperatures mean the snow conditions are usually fantastic and fast! 

Apres ski in Lake Louise happens at the base area of the mountain, so if you carry enough speed you can almost ski straight to the bar or to a big comfy chair in front of the fire (well almost). With a great little community living at the Lake for the winter, you can be sure of a good atmosphere and setting for your last nights on the tour.
