Kicking Horse Legend
Rumour has it that Kicking Horse Country got its name from a geologist in the1850s. Sir James Hector, who was part of an expedition, was exploring the pass and was kicked by a horse so hard that he was knocked out cold. Legend has it that he was presumed dead and woke up just in time to avoid being buried alive. His harrowing experience resulted in the establishment of the Kicking Horse name!
