  WHAT IS STOPPING YOU?
THE BARRIERS TO MAKING THE CHANGE

So, you like the sound of taking some time out but you've got responsibilities - you're not 18 without a care in the world. What are the things that are stopping you and how can you get around these?

JOB/CAREER

Jumping off the 'career ladder' can be frightening. If you do something positive in your career break you should see your time out as progressing your career. Taking time out can be a useful time to refocus your career and it will leave you refreshed and full of energy on your return. After completing a NONSTOP Ski course you will return with new skills and qualifications and your people skills, initiative and fitness will be significantly improved.

MORTGAGE

It is relatively easy to rent your flat or house out even if it is just for a few months. Contact a couple of local estate agents for a free rental valuation and advise on the best ways to let your flat or house. Then chose the agent that you feel gave you the best advise and ask them when you should put it on the market in order to find a tenant before you leave the country. You will need to inform your mortgage lender of your plans.

AGE

Sorry, we don't accept this as an excuse! A good majority of our clients are in their late 30's, 40's and we have even had a few people in their 50's! It is never too old to come on one of our courses as long as you are physically fit and looking for an adventure. Click here to read Allan Maxwell's story.

RELATIONSHIP/CHILDREN

Several of our clients have brought their partners and/or children with them to Canada. At NONSTOP Ski we will try to be as accommodating as possible, so please contact us if you would like to discuss bringing your family with you. If, however, your partner is not keen on the idea of leaving home, then try and sell the idea to them by promoting the benefits for you. If they still don't want you to go then maybe you should question if they are the one for you? Maybe you will find the love of your life on the slopes in Canada?!!

MONEY

Taking a career break can be relatively expensive so you will probably need to plan ahead and start saving. That said, when compared to a normal holiday our courses offer great value for money. However you can get a loan to help fund courses such as ours and we are a registered Training Provider. You can learn more about Career Development Loans at their website: www.lifelonglearning.co.uk/cdl. Increasingly employers are seeing career breaks as a real benefit and some are even prepared to help with funding, so it is always worth asking.
