Exciting week in UK snowboarding
It’s been an exciting week in UK snowboarding, with a couple of our pros proving themselves on the world stage.
Firstly, Bristol’s own Jenny Jones has just won her second consecutive X-Games slopestyle gold! This victory was even sweeter than last year, as there weren’t any absentees from the top flight of girls. She saw off strong competition from Jenna Meyen and Jamie Anderson and laid down a final run that included a super clean Frontside 540, Cab 540 and Frontside 720 Indy. Check it out below:

Also this week, the silverback of British freeride snowboarders, James Stentiford (38), bagged a bronze medal at the Nissan Freeride in Chamonix.
Conditions looked pretty great as the sun came up on the Hotel face of Brevent on competition day, following the heavy snowfall of the previous day, but landings were hard, as Raphy Gillioz found out after breaking his elbow. To complicate things further there was a fair amount of instability and slabbing, as you can see in the highlights video:
So, well done to the Brits this week, and good luck to Team GB in the pipe and boardercross at the coming Vancouver Olympics!
…here’s hoping that they add Slopestyle to the Olympics in future so that Jenny can bag us a Gold!
