Adam’s Apples #4 Take a bite of snowboarding knowledge
Hey, my name is Adam Bowcutt Welcome to this week’s tasty round-up of snowboarding blog posts, articles and forum topics from around the world.
Shaun White warming up for the Olympics
With the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics starting next month it would be rude not to include some fresh footage of some Olympic level halfpipe snowboarding. None other than rock star snowboarder Shaun White double corked his way to victory in the Olympic halfpipe qualifier held at Mammoth Mountain in California in the good old US of A. Kelly Clark takes first place for the women and deservedly so. She boosts as high, if not higher than some of her male counterparts.
Will Shaun White win another gold medal?

Team America snowboarding uniform casually stylish
An Olympic snowboarding team means a compulsory ‘team uniform’ . The halfpipe stars of team America are no exception. Burton, the biggest snowboarding company in the world has kindly designed the riders’ outfits. The uniforms are pretty casual to say the least. Jeans and a plaid top will be what these elite riders will be wearing to represent their country. Classic Americana is the theme of choice according to the designers. The professionalism and determination shown by these athletes will be anything but casual. Expect some amazing halfpipe riding from Team America… F**k Yeah!

What’s all this double cork talk ?
The double cork is the word of the moment in the snowboarding world. It’s certainly a trick that’s on the lips of many top snowboarders as they train to compete in the upcoming Olympics. The level of riding has got to the stage that if a rider doesn’t have a double cork in their bag of tricks then chances of them winning a medal are slim. A double cork is a spin that goes off axis twice where the rider effectively goes upside down twice during a spin. It’s normally performed as a 1080. Shaun White, favourite for a gold medal, has this trick in his bag. This trick didn’t just happen it evolved. Read about it HERE courtesy of Tackyworld
USA’s Kevin Pearce critically injured attempting a double-cork
It is sometimes overlooked how dangerous snowboarding can be. The amplitude riders reach in the halfpipe is getting huge. Add a competitive aspect at the highest level and the risk of injury gets big. Kevin Pearce is a current example of how progression in snowboarding can hurt in more ways the one. Whilst training for the Olympics Kevin over-cooked a double cork and hit just above his eye on the lip of the halfpipe. He remains in a coma. Myself, Nonstop and the wider snowboard community is hoping for his swift recovey. Show some support by joining his Well Wishes facebook group HERE
