Instructor Training Event in Fernie
The 11th and 12th of December marked a very important couple of days for NONSTOP Ski & Snowboard, it was our annual Instructor Training event in Fernie.
We provide this unique training for all our instructors and hosts working in Canada, with instructors coming from Whistler, Banff and Red Mountain.
The event is designed to:
- Introduce new staff to returning staff
- Explain the company background, culture and teaching philosophy
- Have valuable on snow training from our Technical Directors
- Ensure that everyone understands every element of the NONSTOP programmes
The turn-out was fantastic with a total of 52 instructors and hosts plus Rupert, Tom and Georgie flying in from the UK. It included class room sessions on subjects ranging from the company marketing to running video analysis sessions.
Comprehensive on snow training ensured new and existing instructors understood the NONSTOP teaching philosophy. This was particularly invaluable for new instructors helping them to understand how different it is to work on a NONSTOP programme compared to ski school. Particular attention was paid to the All Mountain Pro (AMP) course and how best to instruct on this relatively new course.
This years event also coincided with the opening of our new lodge in Fernie, The Red Tree Lodge. Our brand new 42 bed lodge was a home from home for all the instructors and the new restaurant provided some amazing meals for us throughout the two days.
The training event was a resounding success with everyone commenting on how professionally it was run and how much they had learned. It highlights how committed we are to providing the best instructors, instruction and programmes in the ski & snowboard instructor training industry. We feel we are unique in offering such an event to our instructors and staff and believe this is one of the key ways we stand out from the competition.
In addition to this it provided a fantastic opportunity for us all to get to know each other a little better, have a few beers and look forward to the coming season.
